There are different ways to seal your paint. You can use clear wax, or the Patinas, such as Big Top, Dark and Decrepit, Old and Grey. If you want to play with the luscious colored waxes, seal with clear wax first. Clay paint is very porous and will suck in colored wax, making it more difficult to move and work. Remember Clear wax, then colored. You can use clear waxes over Big Top, but you CANNOT use Big Top over waxes. Wax gives a soft buttery matte finish. Big Top gives a satin finish. After Big Top, you can use the patinas, such as Old and Decrepit, Old and Gray for marvelous antiquing effects. You cab use Old and Grey and Dark and Decrepit as stains and sealers for raw wood. Have fun, play, and know the sky is the limit!
