Our Story

It all began with a sad, tired sofa needing an upgrade. Little did I know that this was the re-awakening of my creativity that laid dormant for decades.

We purchased the sofa and chair from an antique show. The white velvet was stained, and the wood was an unfortunate shade of 1960’s gold. I had heard of people painting fabric, but it coming out all stiff. No one wants spiky velvet. I looked up a way to paint velvet and found this video of a woman, Debi Beard, using this clay paint to paint her velvet sofa. It worked! I had to try it. The sofa came out soft, the color stayed, and over 4 years later, it still looks great. I started looking at what else I could do with the paint and fell in love. I started following other creatives, Dionne Woods of the Turquoise Iris, Jami Rae of Jami Rae Vintage, and others. My friends and family loved what I painted, people wanted to buy my work, so I decided to start selling my creations. And the best part of all, I am now selling the paint. I have the original DIY Clay paint, the new Painterly line from DIY Paint Co, and the Cottage Colors, 1-step paint, also from DIY Paint Co. I carry Paint Pixie brushes, handmade brushes from Italy, and I am thrilled to announce I am now a stockist for Iron Orchid Designs! Come see me at Eclectic Finds. I will be there with my wares, and doing demonstrations of all of the wonderful things you can do with this artisanal paint.
